How to Screen for RTI and MTSS
MAP Growth can be used as one of many data points to help make placement decisions across a Response to Intervention (RTI) or Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) plan. The key MAP Growth data points for consideration are students’ achievement percentiles and their RIT scores, which you can find on the Class Profile Report.
As you review data on the Class Profile report, here are some details to keep in mind:
-
Assess students’ achievement percentiles in conjunction with state linking studies and NWEA’s guidelines on establishing MAP Growth as an effective universal screener. This can support placement decisions in consideration with other student data.
-
Review performance across instructional areas on the Instructional Areas tab. This data can provide insights into the specific strength and opportunity areas for your students, helping you evaluate which areas might benefit from additional focus or need an intervention.
-
Consider past performance by changing the selected terms to a prior term.
-
To further pinpoint what kinds of interventions to employ, consider additional data points from formative classroom practices.
-
To check a student’s growth midyear, use the Student Profile Report .
